TANGENT Phase 2

Reducing gaz emissions, traffic jams and accidents thanks to data collecting

Reducing transport emissions and optimising the use of infrastructure are two key issues for European cities. But to date there is no solution that provides the levers to control, forecast and manage all traffic at the scale of a conurbation, taking into account all modes (road, public transport, micro-mobility, etc.).

TANGENT aims to develop a tool for collecting, processing and formatting data from the different modes to feed a dashboard to monitor environmental KPIs and better predict and manage traffic volumes.

The TANGENT project funded by the European research program H2020 started in September 2021.

WHAT IS THE OBJECTIVE OF THE PROJECT?

To develop new complementary tools to optimize traffic operations in a coordinated and dynamic way in a multimodal perspective and considering automated / non-automated vehicles, passengers and freight transport.

In short, how to aggregate available data and make it talk to optimize our transport conditions and freight flows tomorrow!

WHO IS INVOLVED?

The consortium is made up of 13 partners including the Metropolis of Rennes and ID4CAR for our ecosystem. Keolis Rennes and the start-up Eegle are also involved in the project.

The Metropolis of Rennes is one of the 4 test sites, the others being : Lisbon, Athens and Manchester. ID4CAR is coordinating the 4 test sites as a work package leader.

What is the status of the project?

The consortium is currently working on :

On the state of the art on the technical side
On the definition of test scenarios and the identification of data sources
Indeed, data management is one of the critical points of the project as for many projects around mobility and in particular for MaaS.

A workshop will soon take place in Rennes with all local stakeholders of the project and some European partners of the consortium.
